The Scenic OverpassTwists and turns to get to a destination point, hard on the engine and requires a lower speed. But it's the adventurous life: beautiful, unpredictable and enriching. A life of the road less traveled.

This is the reason that I personally believe that a South Carolinian education (where I did 3 years of college) is worth it. As Miss South Carolina displays in this video, there in fact are some very bright and astounding people out there--I can't believe the wisdom Miss South Carolina comes up with in just a few sentences.

We thank God for the arrival of my son:

          Jacob Paul Hayward

After a 3-4 day labor, Jacob was born on Sunday, August 5th at 6:50 in the evening at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He weighed 9 pounds and 4 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Katie is doing really great (it was a vaginal birth, but with 2 tears) and Jacob is REALLY cute and is an EXPERT eater!

More details to come, but we thought we'd let you know for now.

Okay.. I haven't posted since November 12 last year.  Life isn't too busy for xanga; it's just too busy to find time to post.  But in nostalgia, I do wramble about my friends xanga sites checking for updates.

My update is that I'm soon to be a Dad.  August 2 is our due date, and we're planning on doing a home birth... this decision was the result of a class, many discussions and study.  We're excited.  But we won't know a gender until it pops out.

I have changed jobs--I'm now a 'project' maintenence guy for the apartment company that we also are resident managers for.  'Project' maintenance means that I do all the fun jobs, like laying tile floors, Tongue 'n groove flooring (I've done 7 kitchens since I started in January), patching walls, a bit of painting, and other miscelaneous stuff.  I REALLY like it.

Katie is doing well, getting bigger and bigger.  I've been feeling the baby kick since week 17, and now she's at week 22.  And we are planning a camping trip next month!  (We've been waiting out the cold Minnesota weather, and now we're getting ready to camp again!

Let me know if you are not receiving our prayer letters and would like to.  We send one out about every 2 months...  And we should be sending one out in about a week?

P.S.   Did you try to click on "my friends" to find out if you were one? Ha ha ha... you won't know when I actually DO have a link to something else so you'll have to try each underlined blue word to figure out if it's a link or not!  Okay, okay, the truth is that I don't know how to do links like that.  :(  Oh well.

Ummm... oh yeah--these were just pictures that I put here in a round about way to get them on our "prayer letter"... and I accidently left them here; not realizing that everyone who might take me on their list is allerted to this change.

Life is wonderful except that now I am a voiceless bilabial.  But when I am voiced; I'm creaky.

Run, Squirrel, run, run, run.

So there is this cute white squirrel that loves to run around with 5 other squirrels in our big back yard here at Richfield Square Apartments, of which I, and my bride-to-be are managers.

Yes, we're managers, but when it comes to a squirrel climbing up a tree within the shot of a walmart airsoft gun's range from my open window... I give in.  I shot three times and missed as it froze in position staring at me on the tree.  My gun is getting worse and worse, and doesn't by any means, now, have a consistent right or left pull.  Ah well.
